Macon’s own Sabrina Sikora

Macon has had many talented people come out of her fine boundaries – Otis Redding, Little Richard, The Allman Brothers, the list goes on – and we all know who they are. But none are quite the same as Ms. Sabrina Sikora.

Valentine's Day Relaxation

Ok, so perhaps I'm a little biased in my thinking, but after having been pregnant basically for the past two Valentine's Days (and working nonstop in-between) my wish for V-Day this year is relaxation. I swear if my husband buys me some lingerie, I don't know what I'll do. And guys, let's be honest...that's really more of a present for ya'll anyway! So, what's a guy to do? Well, luckily there are several resources in the Middle Georgia area to help!

Rockstar Party

I think sometimes we forget that fashion is not exclusively for the wealthy, or the beautiful, that fashion is not exclusive at all. Sometimes fashion can even be considered ugly, as not everyone has the same taste. Fashion is art, and like art, everyone has different opinions and styles. I had a Rockstar party at fab'rik for my birthday in November, and our essay contest winner was invited to come. Kelly Geeslin's full essay will be up on my blog at www.maconscene.com but let me quote a part of it here...

Holiday Fashions With The Ladies of Lemongrass

Happy Holidays everyone! And we all know what happens during the holidays (what I like to call "cocktail party season"), for me this the most wonderful time of the year. Why? Oh, my gosh, do you really have to ask? Time to bring out all of the lovely party dresses, fabulous furs and luscious jewelry. "It's the Hap-Happiest Season of all…there'll be parties for hosting" and diamonds to be worn from Christmases long, long ago. And these parties for hosting have fabulous locations, such as the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame, the Terminal Station and a close place to crash after the reveling...such as the 1842 Inn.

Considering Toys at Christmas Time

Babysitting one Saturday afternoon, I sat down with the girls and watched Toy Story 3 for the third time. This new story about toys coming to life reminds me of the Velveteen Rabbit, a story by Margery Williams, which captured my imagination when I was little. In the story, the rabbit becomes the beloved toy of a little boy, even though it is not as fancy as that boy's other toys.
